Slips, Trips, and Falls – June RCSC Meeting

Speaker James M. Wirth, CPEA

Mr. Wirth has more than 30 years’ experience in environmental health and safety. As the manager of safety, security and workers’ compensation for a large manufacturing company, he modernized the security and fire detection/alarm systems, and was responsible for OSHA and other regulatory programs as well as the workers’ compensation self-insurance program.  He also developed and implemented a Drug-Free Workplace program, ergonomic design groups, Hazard Communication program, PPE Respirator program and Powered Industrial Truck program, and developed an aggressive Return-to Work-Program with rehabilitation and work hardening.

More recently he managed the safety program for a major third party administrator with over 16,000 customers. During this period he conducted numerous safety process audits and reviews. He developed and presented multiple workers’ compensation and safety seminars; developed, produced and distributed safety related videos for all group members, created a Safety Process Guide with accompanying CD; and initiated the Small Business section at the BWC Safety Congress, of which he was chairman for three years.  He collaborated with the National Institute of Safety and Health (NIOSH) in studies of the workplace, and participated in a national OSHA Alliance. Jim is currently an account executive assisting out-of-state customers with their workers’ compensation and safety.

He is a Certified Professional Environmental Auditor and a Professional Member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and is on the Board of Directors for Lifeline of Ohio.
