December 2020 Safety Council Meeting (Virtual)

December 10th Ross County Safety Council Virtual Meeting

We’re happy to announce our 5th Ross County Virtual Safety Council meeting of 2020-2021. All remaining virtual meetings this year will start at 10am (unless notified otherwise). We expect the presentations to take between 30-45 minutes with a brief question & answer portion immediately following.

Topic: Perseverance in a tough year

Speaker: Chillicothe native Garin Veris

A reminder that to join a 2020-2021 Ross County Safety Council Virtual Meeting, you must register below. If you do not pre-register, we will not be able to admit you to the meeting. The reason for this is that we can’t make the Zoom link accessible to the general public for safety of the presenters and the attendees.
About our speaker:
Garin Veris grew up in Chillicothe and maintains roots in his hometown.He graduated from Chillicothe High School, where he starred in football and basketball in 1981. Veris also starred in track and field, winning the OHSAA Class AAA shot put and discus throw titles in 1980,then repeating in each event as champion in 1981.
After high school, Veris went on to Stanford University where he had an outstanding performance which culminated in his induction into the Stanford University Athletics Hall of Fame. He was taken in the second round of the 1985 NFL draft by the New England Patriots. During his rookie season, he recorded 14 sacks—including four in the playoffs—and started in Super Bowl XX, where his team lost to the Chicago Bears. He finished his career in 1992 with the San Francisco 49ers and later was named to the Patriots’ All-1980s team.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Stanford and a Juris Doctorate from the Boston College School of Law.

Veris has worked as the director of external business development & marketing for UMass Boston Athletics, athletic director at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, athletic director and at-risk coordinator at his alma mater Chillicothe High School in Chillicothe, Ohio in 2011–2012; and also as the AD at Haverhill High School in Haverhill, Mass.
